While society and the home have undergone radical changes in today’s fast paced, technological environment, schools have remained largely unchanged.  Today’s environment is filled with developmental and learning inhibitors, both at school and in the home, that place children and adolescents at risk.  One such inhibitor, the Internet, has opened up the whole world to a child – one with its own rules, justice, language, culture and adult laden messages.  Today’s youth need knowledgeable, understanding, and involved educators, parents, and community groups to be advocates that will guide them through the often turbulent educational, social, and emotional developing years.
