4MAT and Early Childhood Education: Building a Foundation for Learning
|
How can we promote learning and brain growth in babies, toddlers and preschoolers? Current brain research is opening up a whole new understanding of how incredibly flexible children’s brains really are. Their brains are literally molded by experience: every sight, sound, and thought leaves an imprint on specific neural circuits, modifying the way future sights, sounds, and thoughts will be registered. Additionally, their brains continue to adapt and expand for their entire lifetime. An enriched environment significantly influences brain power and an impoverished environment limits brain power. This 3-day seminar is designed to help early childhood and Head Start teachers create curriculum and instruction that helps children achieve their full potential.
As a result of this seminar, participants will:
-
Enhance their understanding of the implications of the brain research for education.
-
Enhance their appreciation of the value of understanding the uniqueness of others.
-
Enhance their ability to design early childhood instruction and parent education based on the developmental needs of the child.
