The Internet opens up the whole world to a child – one with its own rules, justice, language, and culture.  While children and adolescents are reaping many benefits from today’s technology, they also face many new challenges due to the enormous power which technology places in people’s hands.

During these vulnerable and impressionable years in which youth are making decisions about their values, standards, attitudes and personal beliefs, the Internet is probably the single biggest opportunity and the single biggest danger for the youth of today. In today’s technological world, parents, educators, and community groups require knowledge to protect children, must stay more involved and connected with children and adolescents than ever before, and need tools to empower them to recognize potential warning signs in today’s youth.
